A 48" range hood can come
in many styles and designs, depending on your requirements
within the kitchen. They can be found as ducted or ductless,
island or wall mount. These are very important factors that you
need to consider when making a choice. If you have an existing
stove and kitchen layout, then you may not even have a choice
in which one you purchase. One thing that you do have a choice
in is the features and fan performance and noise output.
Centerpiece Or Wall Mounted
If your kitchen is large enough to accommodate a unit in the
middle, then the island range hoods are the option for you.
They hang from the ceiling above and extract the unwanted air
from the stove. The unfortunate problem with the range hood
mounted in the middle of the kitchen is that they can block
your view. As it is a center piece to the kitchen, it is
helpful to make sure that the hood goes with the current decor
to match.
Wall mounted range hoods are smaller, easier to install and
less obtrusive. It is still recommended to choose a style and
color to match the kitchen furniture. Stainless steel range
hoods are a popular choice and look very modern
Technology
The range hoods available today have an array of the latest
technology built into them. The lights built into the hoods can
be dimmed or even change color the change the ambience within
the kitchen. Having a low blue or red glow always looks good.
Buttons to control the lighting and fan speed can now be touch
sensitive giving the user much more control.
An LCD screen can display which fan speed level the hood is
currently using, the level of lighting and whether the filters
require changing. Auto switch off of the fan is also a good
option to have. If your stove has a timer to cook your food,
well not so can your range hood. Sync the time up and both can
turn on and off at the same time.
Ducted or Ductless Range Hoods
Ducted range hoods requires a means of venting the cooking
air outside. The hood requires a duct system to attach to or
needs to be mounted to an exterior facing wall to vent the air
outside.
A ductless range hood has filters that essentially trap
cooking particles such as smoke and odors before extracting the
air back into the kitchen. These range hoods are cheaper and
easier to install, but the filters need to be replaced or
cleaned on a regular basis.

Of course, each of these new features
that's added to the 48 range
hood also increases the price when shopping for
Kitchen Range Hood. You need to
decide on your budget and then choose which features with
the Range Hoodsare essential to your
cooking pleasure.
